… to be uploaded to avast! official skins download section, I came up with another one… this one is for all those which likes darker colored skins. Many have already asked me through IMs, and this is my answer… Nothing too fancy, and nothing too simple… it’s a combination of rounded objects (icons) and sharp squared lines… and… yes… icons again. Can’t help it, I just love them…
This one is very small as you can see, so some of you that still runs your desktops on 640x480 pixels (believe it or not, there still are some people running that ancient resolution… Hi Mina my friend, this one is for you… ;D )
Of course, skin is just that black area… blue part you can see behind, is a part of my current desktop wallpaper…
Funny because when I read this thread’s title, I was going to post a picture of a sleeping cat, as in “While we are waiting for Avast people to get in touch, my kitty is sleeping”.
I’m sure Sasha will understand our joke on this thread Maybe tomorrow morning (here is deep night) we’ll find the link to download the new skin and the reply from LAZY ALWIL ;D. Goonight friend.
Sasha, also I was wondering if you could help me at the same time you would post on your new dark skin.
It’s very simple : on your picture, I see that your skin has a shadow. Is this one of the famous XP “translucent” options? I may be wrong but I think you use Windows XP because I see that shadow on your screen.
If so, can you show me with another pic how your skin looks with the XP translucent option ON and OFF?
If your skin doesn’t use the .TGA format for the images, then if you want you could show me how another Avast skin responds to the “XP translucent” option on and off?
Feel free to forget about my question if it’s too complicated.
I was just curious about this famous XP new option. 8)
No Newton, there is no translucent option in this skin… actually there is no skin at all. That picture is just preview picture, and I made it with shaddow. In real life, there will be no shaddow when I release that skin. I’m still working on it, and I didn’t even start to compile that skin.
It is possible to make shaddow… very easy… but you have to use TGA with alpha channel, there is no other way you can accomplish that from within SkinBuilder…
Many people post their preview pictures with shaddows, so did I… it looks little bit smoother…
Cheers !
P.S. Logging off, have to get up early in the morning again… :-\
First one is with translucent effect ON. You can “see through”, so you are able to see those icons behind the skin… also, edges of the skins are anti-aliased, so skin looks much smoother…
Second one is without translucent effect enabled… edges of the skin are jaggy, and also, part where you suppose to “see through”, is just normal solid color… not translucent area anymore… you see ? That’s where TGAs with alpha channel are usefull… that area is actually alpha channel, and you can set transparency while you are still creating graphics in Photoshop… you can’t control that from SkinBuilder…

When do you think your skin is ready and up for download? Personally I can’t wait to try it out, for me the best skin so far (used the non-skinned now)… Thanks and keep up the good work
Another Pro-looking skin called Silhouette_4in1, and it’s already available for download from RejZoR’s web location (he was so kind to borrow me some web space)… search that thread for download links.
I can not possibly tell when both of them will be available for download… it’s a long way before they get their place at avast! official skin download page. First I have to finish this one, test it million of times, then I’m gonna send it to Vlk. Then he has to perform all those tests all over again… It’s up to him when those two will be available from official site… for now, you can try Silhouette_4in1, and soon I think I’m gonna release this one as beta version (for testing purposes)… still working on it, and since I have many other responsibilities in my real life, I’m sorry, but I can’t say how long it will take…
