white screen only avast internet security with windows xp

I have a blank white screen when loading avast internet security interface. I have updated and rebooted, but still white screen

Which version of WinXP (e.g. SP3)?
Which version of Avast ?
I am using Avast 18.8 on Win XP SP3, which is the last version you can use. I am aware others have had to fall back to earlier versions of Avast on Win XP.
If you provide a few more details then there are other Win XP + Avast users on here that may be able to help you.

Using avast! free 18.5.2342 on my winXP Pro SP3 system, I had to revert to this version, but that had no issue with white screen.
