Why am I seeing ads in Avast Pro?

This is very annoying! I bought the paid Avast PRO in order to not see ads! I also disabled the popups for other avast products in the settings but whey the hell am I seeing this everytime I open the main GUI?!?!

This is beyond annoying coming from a paid product! I choose the AV only because that’s all I want!! Leave me the hell alone avast! I don’t want your other crap!

Only in rare occasions you need to open the gui.
avast is “set and forget”

Hi,

you can disable them via Settings->General->Popups.

Hope it helps.

Martin, the OP stated that he had “disabled the popups for other avast products in the settings.”

The other point, this isn’t a popup as such, but and Ad in the lower 1/3rd of the UI. Since it isn’t a popup it wouldn’t be affected by the “popups for other avast products in the settings” option disabled or enabled.

For my part, using Avast Premier I certainly hope this is not the start a new strategy. >:(

Got the same add in Avast Internet Security ???

Guess why I stopped using the consumer av and switched to the cloud version…

I hear that.
Loosing “paid user revenue” could very well be the result of such strategy. :-\

I’m not impressed.
I voice my vote with how I spend my money $$$$ OR Don’t >:(

Personally I’m have a high tolerance to non-intrusive ads, such as the one here in the UI (marginally better than popups), but I’m using the free version.

It would certainly be a different story if I had paid and had changed the settings so as not to get other product popup offers, only to get them in the UI, where there is no option to disable ‘all’ ads.

I had two ads today one a popup and the other in the UI, both about the same thing ‘Your welcome gift from Avast is ready.’ Since I have been using avast free for eleven and a half years, I’m not new, so ads when they arrive really have to be relevant/smarter.

I knew what this gift would be before I even clicked the unpack it button.

The thing is David I don’t have any tolerance for any intrusion when I’ve paid for a product.
When I purchase ‘Anything’ it’s because I have my likes and dislikes. Up until now I’ve liked no advertisements in the paid product I use; That’s one of the reasons why I purchased it!!
If that has changed with Avast then I don’t like it and will not support it.

As I said:

It would certainly be a different story if I had paid and had changed the settings so as not to get other product popup offers, only to get them in the UI, where there is no option to disable 'all' ads.

Yes, as I have read over the years, we as individuals all have our different tolerance levels for various annoying situations.
I’m simply saying, for me this is a deal breaker. When I pay then I get control or I don’t pay.

My personal opinion is the same as Schidthouse’s one.
If you pay for an app, not a single ad of a superior version should be made, neither in the interface.
Ads tolerance is zero for a lot of people (including me) 8)
So, if I have Premier, why should I see an “update” button >:(

I have the same intrusive ad on mine with Premier and also the update one too. Not impressed one little bit with this Avast.
I am impressed that you have finally fixed the Smart scan and its not sticking at 43% anymore.
Remove the ads from those already paying for your product please!

At least these adds are not as annoying as the pop-up’s

With all due respect Eddy, I feel that is a matter of opinion of which I don’t share.
And frankly for me, the point is the “adds” not the kind of add.

Indeed, but annoys when we open the interface. Are they there for this? For us not opening the interface?

Just when I mention, in another post, that there is nothing really irritating me with the new version. I thought someone had a handle on preventing dumb stuff.

If this is the direction Avast is going then after 12+ years with Avast I’ll stay with them probably on the two laptops we use Avast on already but any new computers going forward which includes a two desktops I’ve bought but not setup yet and one more laptop will be using another AV program sadly.

It’s to bad Avast doesn’t get the message, I’ve suggest that if they feel marketing in this way increases the revenue stream then how about doing this for NEWER Avast users. For example progressively less ads each year (because a user will be aware of all possible ads in very short order) and perhaps eliminate them altogether for 5+ year users for free users and say down to 1+ year for paid users (if Avast absolutely insists that ads for paid users benefits them financially). Seems to me to be a very SMART compromise which users can probably put up with. This way Avast retains advertising for NEW folks who may respond to ads and Avast avoids losing the longer-term users who want to stay loyal and are not likely swayed by ads after a few months of using Avast anyway. Fact is, the learning curve for products and persuasiveness of ads only lasts a short time.

I contend if their surveys or research have convinced them that ads will increase revenue stream, I say think twice, this may not be the case for users who would otherwise be steadfastly loyal users who would not switch to their AV competitors if only Avast would simply moderate the approach they take to market their products.
