since I know SUPERAntiSpyware has a sample submission utility to do it easy for people send their malware sample, called SUPERSampleSubmit.exe why avast! don’t have a similar tool?
I like what SUPERAntiSpyware has, very useful, just drag and drop sample without compress or password protect it and that’s all! sample sent to SUPERAntiSpyware… I wish avast! had one!
Why would they need a standalone application, if avast users have the facility to upload the file from the chest if it is a sample not found by avast they have to add it to the user files section of the chest to do that.
I know why ‘you’ want this as you don’t have avast installed and would like to help.
Personally it would be better if they had an https page on the avast site that samples could be uploaded/submitted then no need for either a standalone utility or adding to the user files section of the chest to upload.
you are right David, exactly that’s the reason I want that, well not a pain for me since I submit most of the samples by compress and password them and send to avast! mail address, but by having a tool like that then it would be easier and also more people would be able contribute easily.
I’ve preset profile ready in WinRAR context menu to right click over file and create a compressed and password protect archive of that, but not every do like this and because of the steps needed to send a sample to mail address easily would say Heck! Some one else would send it!.
it’s not just ‘Me’, many people use a system with an antivirus and use that system as a Lab and covers other antivirus companies by sending missed/new samples to them. for example today I’ve sent 4 sample to avast!, 8 or 9 to SUPERAntiSpyware and 3 to Avira and… it’s a routine for me since all day I’m looking for such things. so those kind of handy tools would help me so much.
