Anyway, may we know what is your currently operating system?

Then, have you reboot after installation of avast!?

Based on that thread, the Script Shield will only work with Internet Explorer and not Firefox. My assumption (and this is only an assumption :)) is that it has something to do with ActiveX which Firefox doesn’t support.

Little add-on: There is a ActiveX plugin for Mozilla/Firefox.
Don’t know if Avast’s script shield will recognize/work with it though.
