hello, i am using windows 8, i wish to install avast in my computer, but after installing it, my computer stuck at windows startup. and now i have to install another antivirus. what is the problem with avast for windows 8.
It works perfectly fine here on my win8 system, maybe if you provided some information about your system including what AV was used previously and how it was removed and any other security software that is currently installed it might give us something to work with.
i am currently using comodo antivirus. when i installed fresh windows 8, the first software i installed was avast, but after i restarted my computer, my system stuck at windows startup. that’s why i have to use another antivirus. i am using windows 8 pro 64 bit on my AMD phenom 8600B Triple Core 2.30 Ghz processor with 2GB of RAM.
Before installing avast!, you first need to totally remove any other AV program on your system.
You can only have one resident AV on your computer. Two is not better and as you found out only leads to a conflict.
You’ll find step by step instructions on how to properly install avast! at:

okay, let me try
finally it is working fine, but with little trick.
Good to hear. What “little trick” ???
the little trick is, i have disabled “monitor the system for unauthorized changes”
In which program ???
Probably the behavior shield settings.
I have that disabled on my systems (xp pro and win7 sp1) as my Outpost Pro Firewall and WinPatrol Plus both monitor system modifications.

Bob I seem to be having the same problem only I’m running Windows 7 and it’s showing that it’s not compatible with that either. I don’t have any other AV software on my PC other than what came with Windows which is Windows Defender…so will your instructions help me with this as well?
