Why can't I reach avast?

Hi, my HE trial ends in two weeks, and I wish to get the registration key, but I can’t reach any avast site, apart from this one, using either links on web pages or by typing in the site URL in my browser. I’ve tried Firefox, WE, firewall on, off, other computers, even the link on this site didn’t work! Is it just me? I don’t see anyone else complaining, what’s happening?

Hi Bob, thanks for your reply, but this was one of the many links from many sites, (Wikipedia even!) that I’ve tried, and all I get is ‘problem loading page’ or a time out message.

Hi ianmcallister,
The link I posted works without any problems.
You are most likely running some kind of Pop Up blocking software or, something else which is blocking this website.

Bob the problem was a modified HOSTS file as resolved in Ian’s duplicate topic on this problem, http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=29617.0.
