Why can't we buy Avast Products for lifetime price?

A lifetime subscription of $299 is still way out of line. I purchased a lifetime subscription to System Mechanic from QVC for 2 computers for $50. It does almost everything that Avast does with the exception of the anti-virus.

There’s no such item as a lifetime license at any price for the paid versions of Avast.

DUH, please reread my comment.

Guess you didn’t read or understand my answer. No such thing as a lifetime license for a paid version that includes the Cleanup module.

I think he did, given Bob’s comment “There’s no such item as a lifetime license at any price for the paid versions of Avast.”

The figure of $299 was a suggestion from an avast user, not avast, hence Bob’s comment. The only comment from avast said they considered it but dropped the idea.

Hi, we do not plan the lifetime license. It’s not only a business decision, but there are also accounting obstacles.

Still a one time purchase is rather attractive. In the last 3 years Internet Security (3PCs) has gone from $39.99, to $49.99 and now they want to charge me $79.99! Sorry, that is a fast way to sour your reputation with a previously happy subscriber.

There is a lot of expenses maintaining an antivirus product. Calculating the costs likely makes the price that Avast must charge to break even beyond what people would be willing to pay for a lifetime fee.
