When I run this, it takes about 10 seconds to complete. What is it checking?
That you haven’t got any rootkits, it is a manual means of running the anti-rootkit scan, it is quite quick, on my system it takes about three seconds.
Yes, I knew it was checking for rootkits, I just didn’t know how much of the computer it could check in 10 seconds.
What does it do differently when you substitute “FULL” for “SUPERQUICK”?
I haven’t the slightest idea ;D possibly fall over, as it is probably an unknown command, why not try it ![]()
It isn’t checking a lot there are two areas it is looking at what the windows api reports as running (what the rootkit is trying to hide from) and what is actually running and what hidden registry entries there are as that could possibly be what launches the rootkit…

Well, at least you’re honest.
No, actually, Tech suggested the “FULL” command. I ran it, and it took about a minute to complete but there was no report or anything.

Okay, thanks for the info.
I don’t know diddly about rootkits; I just assumed it was similar to a virus scan, which takes for-(*&^%$#@!-ever if you do a thorough scan. ![]()
You don’t get a report because you are using the ashQuick.exe to perform the task you have to enable Show Explorer Extension Results.
- Program Settings, Common, Show Explorer Extension Results, see images.
Mine took 3 seconds and you can see how much it scanned in three seconds ;D
Just ran a FULL one and although I didn’t time it, it was well under a minute and scanned vastly more.
so will running this scan for the rootkit get rid of it if i’ve recently sent it to my chest
How can you remove what has already been removed ?
The contents of the chest are protected and encrypted and as far as I’m aware wouldn’t even feature in the anti-rootkit scan.

You’re right, they won’t…

Okay, I did it and it works.
Thanks a lot.
You’re welcome.
