Why do I have to adjust the username everytime I use Outlook

Hi’a guys.

Can someone please help me with this problem please. I have Avast!4 which I am loving. However, a problem has arisen with starting Outlook Express 6. When ever I start Outlook, a ‘Login’ box appears. It has the correct password entered, and the correct username, but the username is followed by ‘#127.0.0.1’ which I have to delete before I am able to click on ok, and then enter into Outlook Express. It’s just an annoyance which I’d like to correct.

Thanks guys… ;D

Your account in Outlook Express is not configured correctly. It should be (on the page ‘Servers’):
Incoming mail (POP3): 127.0.0.1
Account name: name#popserver ← replace with your actual name and POP server

Thanks Vojtech. Did what you suggested and it worked a treat. Now, I just wish I could sort out Win 98 shutdown problems…Grrrrrrr…lol.

Hi’a Vijtech. I did what you said, and it did work, till the next time I turned my pc on! I just seemed to be having problems that weren’t there before I installed Avast. I have uninstalled it now, which solved all the problems. But the problem is I really need an anti virus, and I really like the way Avast has been put together. It is simple to run, easily understandable (when working as it should…lol) and it’s free (which is why I feel bad complaining!) and know that basically it’s a good programme. If I could just iron out (or even understand…lol) the problems. I couldn’t log onto MSN (it said something about my internet explorer settings being incorrect, which they weren’t) and I couldn’t get my mail at all! Even though I’d changed the config as you suggested. But it all went back to normal (well, as normal as any pesky PC can be) when I uninstalled it. Please help!.. Thanks Vijtech.
