Why do I have to register my Avast4 annually?

Why do I have to register my Avast4 annually?
Will Avast4 HE continue to be free for ever?
Re-registring the program annually makes me wonder if some day Alwil discontinues its free HE version. :‘( :’(
I will be more comfortable if I knew that may be some day I will not be able to dowbload newer versions of Avast but still be able to update its virus db. ::slight_smile: ::slight_smile:
Am I pessimistic? ???
