Why do I need to re-register

I installed the update the other day. Now I’m being asked to re-register. What is going on.

Also, I don’t like the sandbox. It wanted to Excel and Explorer in the sandbox and I’m pretty sure my machine locked up yesterday due to this program.

I have been using this for years with no problem. What is going on?

Disable the autosandbox or make exceptions for the programs being asked to run in the sandbox.
Which Office do you have? I never heard about Excel being sandboxed and even less Explorer…

XP Media Version SP2

Excel 97

I still would like to know why I am being asked to re-register.

avast! glitch? ???

Will it re-install or just re-register?

Re-register. Which version, free or AIS?

free.

I’m experiencing the same problem. I just upgraded to AIS 7.0.1407. I’m running Windows 7 SP1 64-bit with the latest updates from Microsoft. Is the account that it is asking me about different from my account for this forum?

Thanks.

The way I’m reading Tech’s response, it is a glitch and there won’t be a re-install. Let’s see if this gets confirmed.

I’d need more info about the re-register problem. What do you mean by the “re-register” actually? Screenshot?
And when your FREE 1 year registration were supposed to “expire”?
What build were you updating to? And how? Were you using “update” from old version or you downloaded the new installer?
thx

I’m not near this PC. The Avast Pop-up prompts to “Re-Register” (actual Avast text). You tell me.

This was after registering because my annual license was about to expire, which updated to ver 7 and loaded Chrome (I will load Chrome if I want it [sounds like something a virus would do] ), then the sandbox issues, which I turned off after it tried to sandbox “Excel” and “Explorer”. Boot up the next morning and it locks up. Forced shut-down. Reboot- and later Avast pop-up → “Re-Register”. My OS version and Excel version are in previous replies.
