this may sound wierd that im posting this but i have never had a virus and im worried! ive had my pc for over a year now, plus one for about 3 years previously, and ive never had a virus. i spose i shud be happy, but im worried that they are going undetected or sumthin. everyone is talking about virus protection etc., but i have never even had one!
i had norton, then avira and now avast for about 2 months. how common are viruses exactly, and shud i be worried that ive never come across one?
p.s i play online games and do a fair bit of downloading/surfing the net.
pps i also have zonealarm firewall

The most common routes of infection are:
- An insecure system: operating system, browser, media players, Sun Java, Adobe Flash etc. (Check for insecure software here: Secunia Software Inspector)
- Crack/Warez sites
- Porn sites offering fake codecs to view videos (and also drive-by downloads- see 1 above)
- Free games offering spyware loaded games
- Spam e-mails containing attachments or links to Trojan horses posing as, for example, greeting cards.
- Lax security in IM programs allowing strangers to send you links to Trojan horses.
All of these are pretty easy to avoid with a bit of safe surfing, which you must have been doing to stay virus-free.
