avast internet security 2015
windows 8.1 64 bit
a couple times it has happened to me that avast reverted to the free edition and requested a restart, upon which I recieved a pop up message that I am now on the free edition.

I reinstalled with the same licence, and back to normal.

but why does this happen?

this morning it was after the computer froze, I overtaxed the resources and had to shut down. when I logged back on, I was greeted by the free edition.

That happens when the license is over 6 months expired.
According to our system, your latest licence expired on September 2014 :slight_smile:
