Why doesn't CCleaner work with Avast Secure Browser?

As per the title, CCleaner does not clean anything from the Avast Secure Browser. This is quite strange, seeing as Avast owns CCleaner now.

Why is this the case?

Whilst I don’t use ASB, I would say that there is a clue in the name Avast Secure Browser, https://support.avast.com/en-gb/article/Secure-Browser-FAQ also see the info here, https://www.avast.com/secure-browser

What is the point of having a secure browser if all and sundry can get into its innards and make deletions. Even if that is a company owned by Avast.

I get where you’re coming from, but the fact is that CCleaner is owned by Avast, and if they wanted to, surely they’d be able to make it work. I’d understand other programs not being able to access it, but not their own.

Having opened up a hole, what is to prevent others misusing it.

I haven idea what it is that you want to clean up with in ASB, but surely there are settings inside the browser that can achieve this. In Firefox there are settings that you can erase your browsing history, I would have thought there would be something similar in a Chromium based browser such as ASB.

Yes, it’s called Privacy Cleaner and one can easily access it via Privacy Center.

Thanks for the clarification.

Shortcut to get access to Privacy Cleaner settings: Ctrl+Shift+Delete (This also works for Firefox)

Suggest to run after end of every session.

Wasn’t said or noted, but CCleaner has no ASB settings to clean under Applications Tab. It has Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, but not ASB. I think OP’s question may have implied that this was missing in CCleaner, which it is. The fact that Avast now owns CCleaner would seem to buttress OP’s original point that it should be included.

Asyn’s point is that Avast already provides a way to remove internet clutter as is.

Indeed, that was whole point of me posting to this forum.

I’m fully aware of how to clean ASB manually, that’s not the issue. I want to be able to clean it, along with the rest of my computer, in one go.

Do people who work at Avast monitor this forum, or is this purely community-lead?

Asyn, DavidR, and myself are all users just like you. We help with technical issues where we can.

Avast Team Members do show up here on occasion and work for Avast.

As your question is rather related to CC than to ASB, you could ask here: https://forum.piriform.com

I will ask there as well, and reply back here once I have an answer.

Well, turns out to get it to clean the ASB, you have to put a user-modified file in the Ccleaner folder. That’s something I’m not really comfortable with.

Guess it’s back to Chrome for me.

Thanks for your input, everyone.

NP, and thanks for the feedback.
