Why Extension Avast Online Security takes so much CPU in Google Chrome?

In my Google Chrome browser the Avast Online Security extension consumes 304.760K of memory. That is 50% of my CPU.
ABP extension “only” consumes 51.340K memory. CPU 1
Why the avast extension is such a memory hog?

Odd. 50% of a CPU load?

Remove it, then reinstall it. Any improvement polonus?

It is within norms now with 46.236 K, just in the realm of extensions like Ghostery.
