Why is AvastSvc.exe creating very high CPU and Memory usage?

I can confirm your problem and have reported this to the Moderators to get a developers attention.

UPDATE.

Hi to you all, it has now been over a month since my last post on this issue, and I have to say that all is still good.
So, In my particular XP SP3 and Thunderbird case, the SSL scanning switch in the Mail Shield seems to have been the answer to the issue.

Once again, many thanks to all who helped.

.

Ditto here. What I want to know is why I have to search about a problem that Avast knew over 6 months now.

It’s a real pain that’s going to have me looking for a better AV, one that doesn’t pwn my computer.

Posting in old topics isn’t the best thing to do since the old problem isn’t a problem any more.
If you have a problem, post it in your own topic and give us details including info about your computer.

An old problem that isn’t a problem?
THEN WHY THE HELL DOES AVASTSVC.EXE LOCK MY COMPUTER UP OFTEN FOR A MINUTE OR MORE?

What kind of Antivirus company sells an AV that acts like a damned VIRUS? BECAUSE I PAID FOR THIS.

Is there an antivirus out that doesn’t do this shite out of the f_cking box? I’d like to know, I’ll switch.

Please watch your language. :frowning:
Thanks

Just to-day installed Avast Free Custom Install on an brand new 11 inch notebook
with 2 GB mem and 32 GB max mem and never saw it function swifter in my life.
Without a sound as there are no fan running. the notebook is an Acer E51 111M - C98P.
Very satisfied with Avast 's performance.
