Why is password not working for uninstall or repair

Password not working even when I made a new one with forgot password. I want to uninstall avast s as it has completely disappeared from my screen, I can’t open it from start menu.

First, I’m an Avast user and not an Avast Team member.

You have potentially two passwords one in conjunction with the email you used to register and one if you set it for changes in the User Interface. So without giving your password which is it you are trying to enter ?

The latter is the most difficult to get round.
You may have to do a clean reinstall, uninstall using the uninstall utility run from windows safe mode and a new install.

Hi

Thank you for your reply. I have only recorded one password, it keeps asking for a password to change user interface and I didn’t realize it was a different password. I don’t have that one recorded. Are you talking about a clean reinstall of Avast? If I do that what happens to the one still on my Pc? And I would need good directions to do a clean reinstall.

Note: the User Interface isn’t password protected, you the user have to set one to prevent others with access to your computer changing the settings. So someone at some point set this.

You didn’t say what Avast Program you are running ?
The instructions below contains a link for the uninstall utility and Avast Free version. If you have paid versions of Avast, Avast Premium or other Avast Product check this link below ensure that you use the correct offline installation file for your program. Or you could end up back to square one.

Yes a Clean Reinstall of Avast program you have installed (even though you can’t access it)

Hi

Success! I had the avastclear.exe installed, I had Avast one installed. It was a paid version, but I had canceled subscription. I couldn’t get the avast clear to work. So from Microsoft Q&A it suggested using a third party installer. After some research I tried Revo uninstalled but it did not work. I then tried IObit uninstalled. It asked permission to open Avast clear in safe mode, and worked great, and PC is much faster. Without help from you and others I would never have known about Avast clear. Thank you for taking the time to help me!!

You’re welcome.

Though the Instructions related to Avast Antivirus product rather than Avast One product range, the principal is essentially the same. I don’t know if there is a different AvastClear.exe for Avast One ? But the key is running it from safe mode.
