I’ve started seriously using WOT few days ago, rating pages and writing description and experiences for all the pages in my bookmarks and also all that i often visit. Good thing is that it stores rating info in its account so even if you reinstall browser, clear all cookies and cache or even reformat the computer, ratings remain and i can clearly see what pages i have already rated and which i haven’t.
With avast!'s WebRep, doing all of the above resets the rating of webpages so you don’t even know which you have already rated and which you haven’t. In the past i’ve rated few pages but after reformat some time ago i have no clue which ones and i’m rating it from scratch, ending up rating same page several times which is not cool.
Because of that i’m not even willing to bother rating pages because all the work evaporates when i reformat the system or delete the whole browser data.
Tying ratings to avast! accounts will solve this issue and also give you option to extend WebRep’s functionality to WOT’s level, maybe by giving us the option to comment webpages. Sometimes ratings alone don’t tell the whole story and i’ve seen that quite commonly on WOT. All green rating but underneath it, bunch of negative comments with red category. Because the page was good by all the merits of rating, but users weren’t too happy with the business of the webpage or the company. And that’s the main reason why i prefer WOT over WebRep even though WebRep is a part of avast! which i like a lot otherwise…
