I noticed that Optimizer Pro has been around since at least Feb 2013. Why hasn’t Avast created a definition to stop it. I have it and can’t get the download to work. Does anyone know if this malware can cause that
Thanks
Optimizer Pro is a PUP or Junkware. Go to the UI>Settings>Active protection>Filesystem shield/Web Shield and Efficiency and turn detection of PUPs on.
Follow this instructions here and an expert will help you to get rid of this: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0
Needed are Malwarebytes, OTL and aswMBR logs(not win 8 and newer)
Monitoring the situation. For now, I only require the logs from the OTL scan.
What OS/SP?
What download are you talking about?
What exact version of avast and vps ?

Valinorum can help remove it.
However, No anti-virus will give you 100% block results. If you find one, let me know, I’d love to use it!
