Wi-Fi Inspector(Renaming Devices)

I run wi-fi inspector and it lists my devices connected to my network-i click on a devices and hit open details-click change type and rename that device but when i exit the name goes right back to the default(doesnt save changes)?

Avast Ver:20.2.2401 (build 20.2.5130.571)

Hi, the Wi-Fi Inspector has been reworked in v20.3 beta.

Sadly, the Network Inspector doesn’t’ totaly work as intended. After you do the scan and leave, it asks if you want to keep monitoring the network and alert you when a new device joins in. I’ve chose yes, I logged into the Wifi with a new phone (which wasn’t connected during the scan) and never got any alert or notification.

What’s new and when is it coming out as un update?

After installing beta 20.3 the issue has been fixed, thanks

After installing beta 30.3, the option to rename devices is gone, that’s how it’s fixed…

Its not gone beta 20.3,i just did it.
run wifi inspecteor-click on a device(show details) and hit edit

I must have missed it then… :o
What’s still really missing is real-time new device finding. It asks you if you want to keep monitoring the network and be alerted when a new device connects to it, but then it doesn’t do that.

You are correct on the issue your saying.I had to rescan to find more of my devices.Perhaps post this issue with its own title so perhaps someone from avast could check on it or post in the newest beta thread so it can be seen?

Both ;D

You’re welcome.

New update today, after installing, still the same problem. You rename a device and when you come back and it didn’t save,

Just checked it Not fixed on the new Update

And the alerts are also still not working, or are they for Premium only?

I have found WiFi Inspector (20.3.2405 build 20.3.5200.561, UI 1.0.509) does not pick up all wifi conected devices.
Also locked up when trying to change name. The [Done] button was unresponsive but “X” to get out did work.
Looks like there are some bugs to be fixed in this re-work.

I also hate the way the devices now fade in and out during the scan in new version. Could give impression they are not always present. Previous Wifi Inspector scan UI was more intuative and effective IMO.
