Wi-Fi Inspector reveals DSL-3780 router firmware failing

I put great faith in the Avast Wi-Fi Inspector scan. This appears to be much more than a simple Wi-Fi check as it seems also to test the security of the internet exposure of routers. I ran Wi-Fi Inspctor on a friend’s system and it revealed a need to update her ISP TalkTalk supplied DSL-3780 router’s firmware. TalkTalk pushed a firmware update on my request and Wi-Fi Inspector now gives a clean report following a scan.

The scan seems to put most effort into checking the network router function, i.e. the internet interface which is completely exposed to the outside cyber world. To me this is the most important network check of all. I always use seperate router and wireless devices on my own network.

I am not aware of the availabilty of any similarly thorough network security checks. It is a very valuable feature to have included in the Free version of Avast.

Is my faith in Wi-Fi Inspector justified?

Yes. 8)

Thanks Asyn. Wi-Fi Inspector is the clincher for using Avast.

You’re welcome.
