While it’s well known that when your connected to a wireless network, while convenient, poses a lot of risks, such as being vulnerable to spying. One thing i’m curious about is that if you happen to be connected to a network with a skilled user with bad intentions, is there a way to detect sniffers? is there such a thing as an anti-sniffer program?
To me the best anti sniffer program, isn’t having one, but having the right wifi protocol, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wi-Fi_Protected_Access. WPA2 being the latest wireless access protocol and that can’t be installed your wifi router and system wifi hardware have to support it.
So wherever possible use WPA2 to connect to the other wifi, failing that WPA, failing that being available I rather doubt I would connect using the very old WEP protocol.

good advice, thanks.
You’re welcome.
If it’s not a trusted/protected wpa2 network you could use a VPN.
