If you are talking about the password (you set) to change the settings in the Avast program, then this isn’t good news. The Avast Self Defence module would prevent you (or anyone else) from doing this.
The only way this would be possible would be:

It is best to do it this way to ensure that you completely remove the old installation before installing the new program with the off-line installation file so you aren’t connected when you do this clean install. You would need to enter your Avast subscription/registration upon completion.
