Wifi Inspector pop-up won't stop

Suddenly the wifi inspector keeps popping up telling me to “Please turn off your VPN, we can’t scan this network when your VPN is on”. I click it closed and a few seconds later there it is again. I don’t want to turn it off while I’m online. when I go to the notifications it says scan completed on many many entries.

I unchecked automatic scan and rescan and restarted the computer. Same things happens every few minutes. This has never happened before. I want it OFF. I see no way to disable anything.

When you have Wi-Fi Inspector open, and you hover over the question mark where it says “You are connected to …?” do you have “Notify me anytime a new device joins network” selected?
