During install of Avast Pro 4. Will Avast uninstall Sophos antivirus? or can you supply a script which will do so?
Many thanks

I’m sure that avast! will not uninstall any other software (except for an older version of avast! itself maybe) - it would be quite rude to do so.
Can you simply uninstall Sophos from the Control Panel / Add/Remove programs?

It would not be rude to do so if you have sold a client 25 user license and they wish an easy migration to Avast.
Many vendors offer this facility including Sophos.
I think it would be a good option to add for multi user installs.

The problem is that we don’t quite know what it takes to nuke Sophos (or any other AV)… Doing this ‘by hand’ can be quite dangerous - so the only viable solution would be to invoke their own uninstaller I guess…
BTW nice picture

Ok fare enough. Would it be of any assistance to you if I provided a basic script to you which did the uninstalls/ or at least identified the keys and files needed to disable the competitors product on install?
I could get one of my seniour guys to look into it. If you wish? No offence if your not interested

That would be a great option…would save so many peeps troubles. In regards to like nuking Norton and other hijacking av’s.
If it helps, in the future, your technicals could take a look here for ‘cleaning’ a Norton installation

Thanks. We have submitted a comprehensive script to Alwil for the removal of most desktop and some server AV.
