Will Avast 5.1/6.0 scan Aol email accounts

HI I was wondering if I could ask a question about Aol email accounts.

I was wanting to now I have a cousin who has a laptop and I would like to install avast free on his laptop. Will Avast 5.1/ 6.0 will it be able to scan attachments in Aol email accounts?

I think so.

Well that rather depends on a few things that you haven’t mentioned.

  1. Is this an AOHell webmail account, view through a browser ?

  2. If yes what browser and is that an AOHell proprietary ?

  3. If not what email client (program) will be used and is that client an AOHell proprietary email program ?

The main problem is if proprietary AOL programs are used then they not be using the standard email (POP3, SMTP) or web protocols (HTTP ).

If using a standard browser (IE, Firefox, Chrome, etc.) or an email program (Thunderbird, Windows Live Mail, Outlook, etc.), then it should be covered.
