Ash

Yep. A Andriod version is in the works or is, at least, on the up coming product list

What about Symbian???

I have the slightest idea. Andriod is going to be there for sure. Don’t know about symbian :-\

We don’t have all the details yet. But you can keep posted on the forum.

There is also a Smartphone section in the forum here: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=65103.120 for security, updates, news, etc. that you may want to check out as well.

Symbian is dead, though i love it, Nokia is dicontinuing it’s symbian developing, so i don’t think there will be a symbian version of avast.

Will there be anything free from avast with limited functions…?
Like avast free for destops ;D ;D ;D

You will have to wait to know that :frowning: . Because everything wont be known or will not be told before the product is out, isn’t it

The Free Avast for PC’s that is available now will remain if that is what you are asking. As to what will be coming out for smartphones…as posted, you will have to wait for the announcement.

AVG offers free and paid for android, which right now is what i have to use,
I would bet that Avast will offer the same…a free and premium version.

Another indication that a Google buyout of Avast might happen down the road.

Anybody know the population of Symbia?

As I have heard, symbian is popular (larger than the rest mobile OS together), but in decline.

Since version 9 (or so) all applications have to be signed, so applications will either be from trusted source, or will have to go through computer for signing (where those could be checked by computers antivirus). Anyway, i have never encountered viruses on symbian (used nokia n70 for 3 years and e52 for half year).
This method would not work with “app stores”, where only way to get app into device is download from specific centralized mobile formatted website (app store).

So, any desktop computer antivirus can check mobile (symbian, android, etc) apps for viruses?

Ya try Quick Heal Total security 2011 it scans mobile virus for almost 750 mobile models…

Here is some data i would like to show to avast team. See screenshot…

As far as I know nokia is not going to stop symbian development

A lot of the information you (other posters) are asking has already been covered in the Smartphone section of the forum under General Topics. You may want to browser this area for answers.

As for what versions Avast will be developing for smartphones, we will have to wait until it is announced since it has not been released yet.

Thanks :o :o

It’s planned and probably already under development for Android. It will most probably be released this year but nothing solid about it yet.
