I believe that you mean “Microsoft Outlook/Exchange” and Outlook Express (most likely version 5 or 6)
Avast will work with either. For it to scan MS Outlook, you will need to have the MS plugin installed. Check this by right clicking on the A ball in the tray and opening the On Access Protection Module. See if MS Exchange shows.
IF not, then go to Start/Settings/Control Panel, Add/Remove, and doubleclick on Avast. You will be given an option to Update/Change. Open up this option and select Change. Check the box next to MS Outlook/Exchange and hit Apply and OK to install MS Exchange plugin.
When this is done, run the Mail Protection Wizard from the Start/Programs/Avast.
When you run the MPW, check the box to protect all accounts.
Avast should check either program dependent upon which one opens.
Good luck.
If any further problems, come back here and let me know.
I will try that solution, in my pc and i will tell you what’s hapenned… But there are more questions:
Exist some way to configure manually, both protections?
Or I MUST say to wizards to protect all automatically?
Will the SMTP, and POP3, automatically changed?
In other Pc’s where I installed Avast, I configure manually the Mail Scanner, and worked great, but in that cases use only 1 program to manage mail.
Can I do the Manual Configuration for Outlook first, and then for Outlook Express?
Sure, you can see help file (manual configuration of mail protection) or browse a little into ‘FAQ’ on my signature. You can see either the link ‘Settings’ to edit avast4.ini file.
It’s the easiest way… The settings will be done automatically.
Yes you can… but, remember, MS Outlook does not need Internet Mail provider or changes into the account settings. MS Outlook uses the MS Outlook/Exchange plugin of avast to scan messages.
