Win 32.agent.pz

Hi

Newbie, so be gentle
i have the Win32.agent.pz virus which spybot, McAfee and lavasoft cannot get rid of.
The virus has interfered with my connectivity to the net and wireless so that I cannot download avast onto my laptop

Can anyone help?

Thanks,
Claire

Are you using McAfee antivirus? And avast? At the same time?

No

I am running Windows XP and McAfee on my laptop
I have avast on my desk top
Thanks

Does the virus infect both computers?
I suggest:

  1. Clean your temporary files.
  2. Schedule a boot time scanning with avast with archive scanning turned on. If avast does not detect it, you can try DrWeb CureIT! instead.
  3. Use SUPERantispyware, MBAM or Spyware Terminator to scan for spywares and trojans. If any infection is detected, better and safer is send the file to Quarantine than to simple delete than.
  4. Test your machine with anti-rootkit applications. I suggest avast! antirootkit or Trend Micro RootkitBuster.
  5. Make a HijackThis log to post here or this analysis site. Or even submit the RunScanner log to to on-line analysis.
  6. Disable System Restore and then reenable it again.
  7. Immunize your system with SpywareBlaster or Windows Advanced Care.
  8. Check if you have insecure applications with Secunia Software Inspector.

Thanks for this
It is on the laptop that it infected
I am trying to download avast onto a USB memory stick to upload it onto my laptop with no success
Any other suggestions?

Claire

avast won’t work if McAfee was not uninstalled before.

You can try Avira Rescue CD. Download also the latest virus definitions (called security updates there).
