Win 32 Downloader PKU, win32 Malware-gen, and Win 64 Sifef-A

I keep getting pop ups from Avast telling my I have gotten Trojans as noted in the title (Win 32 Downloader PKU, Win 32 Malware-gen and Win 64 Sifef) along with some others. I have already ran malwarebytes anti-malware. The first time it found 22 things, which i removed. The next time it found seven and the last time 2. I also ran a boot time scan and deleted some of the files. Regardless,Avast error messages still persists about these nasty trojans. I need some help on getting these things off my PC, because I don’t want to have to reinstall windows and lose all my files. Below I listed the last log from Malwarebytes anti-malware. Thanks in advance for any help guys.

Hi. Thanks for all of your help so far. It is very much appreciated. After I ran the code in OTL, I am no longer getting popups from Avast about threats. I had also been running the computer in safe mode with networking and Google Chrome would tell me not to go to webpages I Googled via its omnibox/search bar. Since I did what you said, Google Chrome is not longer warning me of threats. Also, and maybe its just me, but my computer memory/cores seem to be much more stable. I have attached the three logs as requested.

OK repair time now, on completion could you let me know what problems remain

Warning This fix is only relevant for this system and no other, using on another computer may cause problems

Be advised that when the fix commences it will shut down all running processes and you may lose the desktop and icons, they will return on reboot

Run OTL

[CREATERESTOREPOINT]
[Reboot]

[*]Then click the Run Fix button at the top
[*]Let the program run unhindered, reboot the PC when it is done

Alright. I finished doing what you said and my computer seems better. It has been on for around 2 hours with no threat alerts from Avast. I did find one thing though. To be sure I re-ran Malwarebytes Anti-malware and found four threats (rootkits/worms). I deleted them and restarted the computer and re-ran the scan again. No threats were found. I then ran Avast as well and it found three threats (Win 32 Downloader PKU, Win 32 Malware-gen, and Win 64 Sifef). I was able to quarantine and delete them though without trouble. I restarted the computer and re-ran Avast. No threats were found. After that subsequent Avast and Malwarebytes Anti-malware scans have come up with no threats. Does this mean my computer is usable/secure again? I included a log from the last scan I did by Malwarebytes Anti-mare, aswMBR, and OTL if you needed them.

Oh and THANK YOU. If there is any way I can help this forum out please let me know.

Was the location of the threats Qoobox, OTL_Moved files perchance

Subject to no further problems

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean

A good workman always cleans up after himself so…The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:

Run OTL
[*]Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste in the following

:Commands [resethosts] [emptytemp] [Reboot]

http://i1224.photobucket.com/albums/ee362/Essexboy3/Misc%20screen%20shots/CF_Uninstall-1.jpg

[]Follow the prompts on the screen
[
]A message should appear confirming that ComboFix was uninstalled

Run OTL and hit the cleanup button. It will remove all the programmes we have used plus itself.

We will now confirm that your hidden files are set to that, as some of the tools I use will change that

[*]Go to control panel
[*]Select folder options (Appearance > Folder options in category view)
[*]Select the View Tab.
[*]Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Do not show hidden files and folders.
[]Click Yes to confirm.
[
]Click OK.

Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system.
Please follow these steps to remove older version of Java components and upgrade the application.

Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programmes:

Malwarebytes. Update and run weekly to keep your system clean

Download and install FileHippo update checker and run it monthly it will show you which programmes on your system need updating and give a download link

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system and to keep them updated. To keep your operating system up to date visit

[*]Microsoft Windows Update

To learn more about how to protect yourself while on the internet read our little guide How did I get infected in the first place ?

Keep safe

I am not sure of the file location of the threats. Unlike the earlier versions I was able to delete them and they have not returned though.

I ran the OTL code, updated Windows, Updated Java, Updated Malwarebytes, downloaded FileHippo, made sure certain files are now hidden, created a restore point and erased the old ones.

Would it matter if I just left OTL/Combofix installed in case of future threats?

I will run my computer through tomorrow and give you a status of its performance then.

Once again, thank you.

No it is not advisable to keep either combofix or OTL as they are updated regularly. It is best to get fresh copies
