Today I got hit with the win32 malware gen and it’s causing me a lot of trouble, I probably got it from an advertising site or something.
Anyways I ran avast and when it rebooted the problem still wasn’t fixed, so I ran rkill and then malwarebytes antimalware. I thought it’d fix the problem after getting rid of something like 60 infected files, but my computer’s been acting weirdly lately. When I try to open programs via shortcuts (whether by start menu or on desktop) it’d say that the target is missing and it’d ask me to browse for the program to open it. When I launch firefox or avast using this method, a weird pop up appears first before the program opens. And when I use the google toolbar on firefox, I constantly get redirected to obscure internet search engines. So I then ran OTL and these are the logs that I got:
And another note, my taskbar icons have disappeared and the only icon that remains is the volume icon.
but i can see that he has kaspersky, avg, macafee, try to see what is in his system its a lot of resident anti virus plus rouge antimalware, rouge antivirus,
essexboy can help him for the removal of rouge but first he must help himself by choosing one resident protection only.
So as bong2x says, your MBAM log say " No action taken "
so update and scan again and after the scan click the button " remove selected " to quarantine what is found
then do a new scan and see if it comes up clean ?
never run more then one antivirus program, it can give lots of false detections and mysterious windows errors
so if you have more than one remove the one you dont need
run a removal tool to clean all leftovers after the program, you can find one here http://uninstallers.blogspot.com/
No nonsense at all…!! Did you read the logs?
That’s one of the most messed up systems, i saw for some time. ;D
I usually not advice reinstalling the OS, but this could be the exception…
But let’s see, maybe essexboy can even fix that mess.

Well sure it can, but first you will need a user, who knows what he/she does and second sometimes it’s quicker and easier to reinstall the OS than going trough many steps of repairing it.
I’m not at all talking somebody into reinstalling, i’m highly interested, if this can be fixed and how…!!
