hi, today i was infected by this virus in winrar\default.sfx, i try to repair but its not possible, i try to found some removal tool but i dont found in anywhere. i already read the sticky to remove virus but could some one help me please? can i delete this file???

Do a search on this board. There are many threads about Trojan-gen.

Is your AVASt up to date? I thought they allready fix this false alarm. It is rather old. Like artas said you coould search for winrar and trojan-gen. You will get several hits.

:frowning: i also have this virus i cant repare it and if i delete it. it will mess up all my programs forcing me to format the hd again

if the detection is still shown after you UPDATED avast:

please read the link " VirusRemoval" below in my sig, and give us some useful infos, e.g.:

  • What Version of WIN and of avast (VPS ?) do you use ?
    Are all windowsupdates applied ?

  • exact location & filename of the suspicious file(s)

  • results of Onlinescanners KAV, RAV and Trend on the suspicious files (pause avast shield while scanning online)

  • a hijackthis-Log for diagnosis

I send a RAR file to my brother this evening, and his comp reported the file contained Win32:Trojan-gen. {UPX!}. He uses the same avast! I do, and he must have an older database, because my 433-0 doesn’t report anything from the file.

From what I read here, it’s an old “false-postive”, so I’m going to side with this support forum for now and ignore the warning.
