Win32:Trojan-gen is a name given by avast! by very generic method of detection. We are not able to give you more detailed description seeing the sample. If you want to get some additional information please send the sample to virus@asw.cz together with the info request

In order to eradicate this virus you just need to do a restauration point.
I had the same problem
I also have come up with the Win32.Trojan-Gen, I did do a restore from a point I know was clean, however it is still being detected. I keep moving them to the chest, turned off my restore and am still trying to find a way to completely remove it. Any other advise?
Which file does avast report and where is it located(in which folder)?
Hi,
This is already been on this forum! Its a very old worm!!
Avast! removes it without problem’s!!
Please tell your friends also, that avast! is the best av in the world!!
I try norton but its bullshit!

um, thanks for that.
I’m guessing mine is a false alarm: I’ve sent it to alwil but it says the “virus,” that is Trogan-gen, is located in C:\System Volume Information_restore…
Um and a Trojan, I believe, is not a worm.
So hey, anyone got anything helpful to add about that?
I got ‘it’ too. win32.trogen-gen{vc}. Reported in c;\program files\commonflies\microsoftshared\msinfo\msin. Got second error message " could not load or run msinfo.exe specified in win.ini file. make sure the file on your computer or remove ref from the win.ini file.
after rebooting & running avast got c:\windows\system\conf.exc ----infected
got avast clean up and am running. its been 5 hrs but program is still running. Disc is 11.6 MB used & 11.6 gb free. Ran defrag only got 92% complete
am I on the right track??? ???
Please post a hijackthis log: http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/
Download then unzip the file and double click on the “HijackThis” icon.
When finished loading click on the “Scan button”.
Next click on the “Save Log” button. Save the log somewhere you will remember and open the log file with notepad. Then copy the contents and paste them in a reply to be checked. (Taken from http://forums.net-integration.net/index.php?showtopic=6624)
I have this in my computer too, it has been detected and deleted several times in folder C:\System Volume Information_restore… Avast is not completely removing it because it keeps coming back. What to do?
Disable the Systemrestore, restart and enable it again.
