Win:32DyfucDldr-X [Tr4j]

I got hit (Avast found) with this the other day and it took out Internet Explorer. Avast said to put it in the chest, which I did. Afterward, IE “could not find the server”. I uninstalled and reinstalled IE to no avail. I dl’ed Firefox and can get to the web using it.

BTW - Even though IE wasn’t cooperating, I could get email, chat through AIM and telnet. So I’m fairly confident it is an IE issue.

I got hit a few times again today by this same virus. I deleted them this time.

What is the info on this virus?

Brian A.

We need more info to help, such as:

What OS have you got?
What version of IE?
What was the filename and path of the virus?
Any other information you feel is relevent.

BTE, does using the ‘New Connection Wizard’ in IE get your internet back, to get to this, open IE>Tools>Internet Options>Connections> Setup.

Win XP home.
IE version 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.0304
Avast said the original location was C;\temp\optimize.exe

Infected file optimize.exe

Got the same warning when I booted up the system today. Ran the full virus scan and the same virus was found again. Both times the recommendation was nove to chest and I followed the advice.

Sent file to you using the inprogram service.

This is a Description of the Malware you have: (it will be one of these)
Optimize.exe is a virus which is installed by consent from websites, and attempts to dial expensive pornography servers. This program is a registered security risk and should be removed immediately.

Or

Optimize.exe is a adware/spyware that creates alot of ads on your PC.

Note It will be one of the above descriptions, not both.

In any case, non are to fun >:(, and if its the first, it could end up costing you alot of money if your on Dial up (just a plain nusence if your on broadband).

But i have a feeling its the first one as you lost your internet connection :-\ (i could be wrong though)

So I suggest downloading, updating then running these 2 good free programs, they are Ad-Aware
and spybot.
Also after that could you post a hijackthis log here so we can check your system is clean.
You can get hijackthis from here and this is how to use it (incase your not sure how)
If you are still not sure what to fix with hijackthis, post ALL your hijackthis log here please, we can advise you on what to do.

Well, you sent it to the Avast team, im just a user like yourself, trying to help

You shouldn’t need to send any infected/malware file to avast if it has already detected it, which in this case it has.
