win 7/64bit requires re-booting in order to connect to network every time there’s a avast update due. (network icon has yellow triangle on it) - when there isn’t an avast update due win7 starts with no problem.
this is very irritating to say the least.
any advice ideas most welcome because if it doesn’t get solved, i’m leaving avast…

Is there an error in the logs?
I’m using avast! V5 beta3 now but never had a problem with v4.8.
How do you connect to the Internet? (dial-up, DSL, cable)

no error in logs. connecting via adsl.
works perfectly on second boot (when it downloads the update), and perfectly, ie. first boot, when there’s NO update.
i have to say i’m seriously considering dumping avast (ms essentials?) if i can’t sort this out.
do you think i should give v5 a whirl? if so, how do i get it?
thanks

NEW Free AV and IS beta build 5.0.259

I do not use IS beta build as that contains the new firewall.
How much RAM does the system have?

sys specs: win7/64, i7/920, 6gb ram, gigabyte mb.
tried a re-install - same problem. when an update is due i get no internet connection unless i reboot.
am downloading beta av - do i need to uninstall avast before installing 5?
thanks again
