Hi there is no guarantee that this will work
Download the attached fixlist.txt to the same location as FRST
Run FRST as before and press fix
On completion try a normal boot
That was quick. I will give it a try.
I will report back later.
I tried, but no luck.
As I can see from the log, it seems like the problem is too big to cure.
Agree?
Yes unfortunately it is a windows problem, sorry
Thanks for trying anyway.
Hi Essexboy, Don’t want to hijack original thread but having this problem with Win XP… problem is I have a net book with no opti drive, so i can use usb stick instead… what is the next steps…Do i need to send you a file or something?
Do you have the recovery console installed on the netbook ?
Update.
After failed attempt yesterday, and problems with my dvd drive. I managed to create an bootable USB stick with a win7 installation.
I started up wanting to reinstall, but decided to give it one more shot to repair.
Windows tried system restore, but failed to start and then I got stubborn.
I tried one last time, and this time it did a startup repair.
And all of a sudden windows loaded and is running perfect right now.
Thanks for your effort anyway.
I reckon the startup repair from the CD replaced a dodgy system file… Glad it worked for you
