I don’t know what created that folder, avast usually creates a folder called avast4 in the windows\temp folder. I can’t recall avast creating any other on installation, what is in it ?
Is there a folder called avast4 in the windows\temp folder ?
It should be for the most part empty, there is also likely to be one in C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Local Settings\Temp_avast4_, both being temp could be deleted but if they have any filse with today’s date in them they might be in use.
Thx David:
Yes, avast4 is there and empty.
The folder I mentioned looks like this inside:
Looks to me that it is not changed .
Thanks.
Certainly looks like a temp installation folder that I would have thought on successful installation should have been cleaned up.
As you say it looks like no change and only avast.setup and setup.ovr (which is used to compile avast.setup) on the 8th so it was probably doing an update after installation.
It is probably safe to remove it, but unless you are desperate for space I would give it a couple of days and see if there is any activity and then remove.
Yes, I’ll wait and see.
Thanks for your time.
