Isn’t a typical configuration for 16-bit applications support?

Maybe for the boot time scan… ???
Strange. avast doesn’t normally write anything to the file.
No such section in mine (XP-Home).
Maybe your computer needs extra help-and-reminders? ;D
I did not write there manually :-\
I’d suggest to delete the values and watch if they reappear…
