Win Vista /Defender -> Developpers <-

Hi,

Thanks for your nice free software I used on Windows XP.

I have now Vista home basic, with vista’s built-in firewall and antispy.
After the avast installation I reboot the machine…

  1. After logon, win. Defender block Avast (ashdisp.exe)
I see this .exe is not ‘allow’ in ‘classification’ and ‘editor’ is not available !!

  2. I’m obliged to allow ‘VisthUpd.exe’ in the firewall to have manually updates.

I hope that developpers improve the vista compatibility.
That will not obliged users to manually TURN ON avast at every logon !
etc…

Thanks for futur updates.

Fabrice (from France)

avast is compatible with vista, your problem is point 1, Defender blocking ashDisp.exe the avast icon and interface. There has to be a way to have Defender allow ashDisp.exe, that is crazy if it doesn’t. I have never used defender so I’m not speaking from experience here.

If you can’t change it, delete the entry for ashDisp.exe in defender and I would hope that Defender will ask permission before blocking. If it doesn’t ask but blocks automatically I suggest you check its settings and see if you can’t change it from automatically block to ask.

As far I know, Defender does not block ashDisp.exe (the avast icon).

hello,

thanks for the reply.
It’s not possible to allow avast in defender , it’s crazy !
I can’t activate it in startup programs !
I’m going crazy too !

bye

I’m using Avast on Vista HP with no problems, so this might be a system centric problem. You might try this, open Defender, click on tools, click on options, then scroll down to the box that says “do not scan these files or locations” and add the Avast files that Defender is detecting.

Also you should be able to " always allow" items when defender alerts you.

BTW, I can see your e-mail address, you should cange that so you won’t be hit with spam.

thanks,

but I CAN’T select allow in defender…

Where are you? Can you post a screenshot of your Defender?
To know how to post a screenshot, see http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=8982.0
You can use Gadwin PrintScreen to get a screenshot (http://www.gadwin.com/printscreen/) or the free version of WinSnap 1.1.10 (http://www.filehippo.com/download_winsnap/?2173).
