I keep getting this web address trying to access my computer every 5 mins. Is there a way you can ad an internet access blocker so that they can’t access the computer. On-access scanner keeps popping up with these.
If you have a firewall (what is it?) that should also be able to block IP addresses (especially if they are unsolicited) and or you can use ‘URL blocking’ in the Web Shield provider, Customize… I’m assuming that web shield detected and stopped these from downloading?
Please edit the links so they aren’t active to avoid accidental clicking or the curious. e.g. http: // 85.255.115.186/users/fill/web/images/sphlp32.jpg Use spaces to break the link, etc.
However both links would appear to be giving 404 Not Found ‘The requested URL /images/404.html was not found on this server.’ errors.
So as you can see URL blocking in this case may be wasted and you would always be shooting at a moving target as IP addresses can change.
Web addresses do not try to access your computer, but malware/spyware on your computer may try to redirect you browser to malicious sites to download more malware.
You should probably do a thorough spyware and virus scan:
Run a boot time scan with avast! (Right click the scanner screen and select ‘schedule a boot time scan’.)
Have you got a firewall up? Is your OS up to date? If not, you will easily be reinfected.
Download/install and update the following programs. Download a good third party firewall if you don’t have one. Go offline and do all the scans. Install the firewall and come back online. The firewall should notify you of any malware still trying to connect out, or of any attacks from the net.
If you are symptom free, visit the MS update site and look for critical updates.
Ewido works fine with avast as far as I’m aware, as to if it will slow your system, that to a large extent depend on your system and if you were using the resident scanner. I don’t use the resident scanner part of it (which after the trial period can’t be used with the free version unless you buy the plus/pro version) only the on-demand scanner.
Adware is not truly a virus it usually redirects your browser home page or web pages to their sponsored sites or imports ads or creates pop-up ads, etc.
