Dear All,

I just installed avast! on a friend’s computer. Items by the name of Win32:Adware003/004 Trj. was found. (in the memory) I did not note the rest of the file name or location. Should he delete? Directions please.

edit: additional information;
Virus Name: Win32:Adware-002 [Trj]
File Name: c:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\SyncroAdX.dll

Virus name: Win32:Trojano-213 [Trj]
File Name: c:\temp\Installer2.exe

edit: we are finding many similar Adware entries. we are swamped! Help!!

Thank you for your help in this matter. Regards, M.Chameleon.

Hi,

the 2 mentioned items can be safely moved to quarantine/chest

  • the DLL is mot probably spyware
  • the EXE in TEMP can be deleted anyway, if you didn’t put it there on purpose yourself

Can’t say much about your other findings without seeing the filenames & locations
What avast version & VPS do you have… ?

if in doubt, read link “VirusRemoval” below and:

  • scan the files online with KAV, RAV & TREND (with avast shield PAUSED!!) and report each result
  • post a hijackthis-Log

Thank you for your assistance whocares.

I passed this information onto my friend.

It was really quite astounding the endless stream of “gunk” that avast! picked up yesterday. However, I suspected this would be the case after he changed over from another AV to avast!

Hopefully he’ll join the forums and find more answers to his questions.

Cheers!
