Hello.
I am wondering if somebody can help me with this virus. I used avast! 4.8 Home Edition and it detected 3 infected files. All 3 were infected by the virus Win32:Adware-gen [Adw]. The files were named Interop.SHDocVw.dll. I don’t know much about viruses. It would be greatly appreciated if anyone could inform me as to what this virus does and possibly how to get rid of it.
What anti ad ware are you using.Try Ad-aware or Spybot & see how that works. Or you could try a boot time scan if you are using avast.
I use SpyBot and Ad-aware (Anniversary Edition). Before I did the avast! scan that picked up the viruses, I did a spybot scan then an Ad-aware scan. The spybot scan did not pick anything up and the ad-aware scan only picked up tracking cookies.
Did you do a boot time scan & if so did you select delete all in the selection panel.
First make sure you try a boot time scan with avast! as advised. Right click the scanner screen, select ‘schedule a boot time scan’ and reboot when requested. (Or open the tab at the top left of the scanner screen and select the boot time option from there.)
Then scan with these free adware/spyware scanners. Download, install and update before the scan.

When you have finished, check for out-of-date and insecure software and update- this will reduce the risk of similar infections.
