Scanner found Beagle-gen and Beagle-S viruses in direct.exe files. Avast4 is unable to delete or other way to eliminate the virus. Symantec has removal tools only for Beagle M-O modifications. What to do? I need to eliminate the virus, as it sends a lot of spam letters. Please, help!
Hello
Schedule a Boot time scan and it should remove file easily (its not a system file, its just in use)
I can delete this direct.exe easily by booting system from FD. It’s no pr oblem. Problem is that direct.exe appears again, when I restart Win98. Where should I check for source from which this file is rebuilt?
Go to Start\Run…
typein msconfig and go to Startup tab.
Here search for this file and remove check mark in front of it.
This will probably fix the reappearing problem (if it isn’t stored somewhere in registry).
I found in registry one key with “direct.exe”. I deleted it. Then I scanned system again and found out huge amount of infectyed .exe files. I’m afraid I’ll have to format c: and reinstall system.
