I encountered this Trojan today. It appeared as soon as I accessed a site; happily AV caught it, I sent it to the chest, got a few details and then deleted it. Clearly, AV knows of it although I can’t find a mention of it on your site. It was contained in a file tbd1[1].htm. I’d like to know what the virus was.
What is a more worrying is the fact that I also caught another trojan (1stbar) when just accessing a site ie in a HTM file. Again AV caught it so I could easily delete it. But for the past few weeks SP2 has made browsing the web a pleasure…Now one day makes me wonder if the virus makers now found a way to circumvent SP2 ?
In case you’re wondering I have no ActiveX etc, Firewall is ON etc.
Finally, and I don’t mean to be rude, could this be third time lucky for some sort of response?!
Security is not only having the latest patches installed (SP2), it is also not only related to a firewall or av software. The specific settings you make in them are also important. Also important is the way a user (you) handles the system and what (s)he does with it, what applications one installs, what sites one visits etc etc etc.
I'd like to know what the virus was.
Check it in Avast's log file.

There are many variants with the malware family, so there are many ways they are trying to spread themselfs. Through mail, websites, applications, networks etc.
PS: I also answered the questions in your other thread. I think we overlooked that one. Sorry for that.
Thanks for your response Eddy.
Since my post, I encountered two other instances of this Trojan! AV caught them and I’ve got a clean bill of health from AV, SpyBot and AdAware. As you imply they are’site related’.
However, my own gut instinct is that more people will encounter a spate of these trojans. I’ll keep my eye on your forum. Thanks again
