cant remove this trojan not sure what info i need to post to get help!
have done boot scan and told to delete but every reboot it re apears
please help ?

What is the infected file name, where was it found e.g. (C:\windows\system32\infected-file-name.xxx) ? Check the avast! Log Viewer (right click the avast ‘a’ icon), Warning section, this contains information on all avast detections.

Why can’t you remove it, what did you try ?
What errors are displayed, etc. (or does it keep coming back) ?

What Operating System are you using ?

  reformat, then reinstall their Operating System . Best to start by using
  a special program that has been developed to combat SOME "versions"

Sign of “Win32:Delf-HWS [trj]” has been found in “C:\WINDOWS\system32\tmp0_7277924164.bk” file.

have tried repairing file , moving to chest, and deleting, just keeps re appearing in same ocation… have tried emtying the file in safe mode to .

Trojans basically can’t be repaired as unlike a virus, which puts a small piece of code in files it infects (which may be able to be repaired) a trojan is entirely malicious so nothing to repair.

If it keeps reappearing after moving it to the chest or deletion, then there are other elements to the infection, so I suggest you try the tool that Spiritsongs gave the link for.

You could also do a forum search for Win32:Delf-HWS and see there are any other topics, which there probably are.

Hi xenigma1,

The normal standard procedure, as manual removal descriptions are not there, is:

to disable sytem restore;
to boot in safe mode
to run a temp file/registry cleaner like ATF Cleaner, and/or ClearProg
to run a scan with: http://usa.kaspersky.com/products_services/free-virus-scanner.php
to boot normally
to re-enable system restore

Most Delf Trojans add a Startup entry: Startup Entry Name, SysService - Process Name, SysService.exe
Use Task Manager to End the Process. Also to end the startup entry, Windows Start, Run, type 'msconfig without the quotes, in the new window select the Startup Tab, find the SysService entry and uncheck it.

What is your firewall as you don’t appear to have an active firewall ?

Ensure you have the latest version of JRE (JAVA Runtime Environment) because older versions can be vulnerable to malware. First remove All Older Versions From Add/Remove Programs.
Then get the latest update from here http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp
Or JRE version 6 update 4 http://www.majorgeeks.com/Sun_Java_Runtime_Environment_d4648.html

You also have remnants of a very old java version (C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_10\bin\jusched.exe) that you should also remove.

Other than that I don’t see anything obvious, but Delf can be particularly difficult to remove, so I would suggest a forums search for Win32:Delf-HWS and see what it returns.

Since my 1st recommendation did NOT work AND you have a “trojan”, it
would be best IF you asked for Help on the Forums of your antiTROJAN
