Ola Pabloandliz,

You’re infected with SpywareQuacke & MediaTicket etc. Go here for removal instructions.
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic47826.html

Your HJT log analysis can be found here: http://www.hijackthis.de/logfiles/44674931623917774915338d0d82e60a.html,
and for the three days thereafter. First clean out the SpywareQuacke infection,
then post a renewed HJT log.

Goededag Polonus,

ik zal het eens gaan proberen, alvast bedankt. Ben vaak in polen geweest, woon nu in Filippijnen

Hi Pabloandliz,

There’s plenty of spyware/malware on your computer!

avast! now has an option to delete a malware file on reboot. Have you tried that?

You should download, install, update and run these programs in safe mode (tap F8 while rebooting):

Ewido (XP’Win2000 only) http://www.ewido.net/en/

and/or a-Squared http://www.emsisoft.com/en/

Ad-Aware: http://www.lavasoft.de/

Spybot Search & Destroy: http://www.safer-networking.org/

You may also need to run some special tools: come back with a fresh log if you still have symptoms after running the above programs.

Good luck!

I have followed instructions of www.bleepingcomputer.com. Not everything went as described: could only find xenadot.dll, no SpywareQuake to be found, could not find and run smitrem in safe mode. When I ran it in normal mode it took less than a second.

Anyway, no trace of a tr anymore, I think. Maybe somebody can check the HijackThis logfile below.

I have another problem now: I can not open IE. It seems that it gets stuck in between two pages. It tries to open blank page, but keeps hanging, swithching very fast between pages. What I can read is www.dnserror404.com. Any solution?

Thanks for the help.

I can see no sign of the anti-Trojan/anti-spyware programs I recommended: they should remove a lot of these bad things automatically.

SmitFraudFix now seems to be the most effective tool against rogue anti-spyware programs:

http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix_En.php

If you put it in the root directory (C:) it will be easier to find in safe mode.

Your version of Java is also seriously out of date: you should remove the old version from Add/Remove preograms and download the latest version from here:

http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp

Thanks for all the assistance. I am in a different time zone than you guys and I do not mail from the infected computer, so I can not follow all the instructions immediately.

However, I ran Ewido, Adware, SpyBot and most of the mess seems to be gone now.

What I did not do yet is udate java and remove atmclk.exe

I produced another log and had it analyzed:

My only problem is that when starting up IE I get virus alerts and rerouted to anti-spyware sites. I hope I can fix this by removing the nasty and unnecessary entries.

Anything else I should or could do?

Last question: how can I avoid this mess in the future?

Thanks

Just checked Hijack This log again. Reading the commenst it is not that simple to remove the two nasty files.

Pls advice on program to use.

P.

Did you try the tool I recommended above?

http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix_En.php

Run in safe mode.

Not yet, will do so tonight.

When I google I arrive at using Prevx1. Is that reliable?

P

It’s not necessary to buy that program- run the tool above, followed by another scan with Ewido in safe mode that should sort you out!

Ok thanks. Will let you know tom.

Here’s somebody who had the same problem:

Smiling, yes… but laughing? …only when you can tell me how to avoid this mess.

 Hi P :

They have not said anything about MessengerPlus! 3
usually being a "carrier" of the LOP spyware .

Hi Spiritsongs,

Here is the info about the LOP removal procedures, and the various examples: http://www.spyany.com/program/article_spy_rm_Lop.html

For this specific problem this is the link to go:

The last log posted showed only signs of a SmitFraud type infection:

http://www.hijackthis.de/logfiles/c1ba1f50ac37ac98bf8e4d738ba61b4a.html

Messenger3 is not harmful it itself, but as Spiritsongs mentioned, it can bring malware with it:

MessengerPlus - third party MSN Messenger extension that adds a number of useful features. Bundles the hard to remove C2Media LOP adware; the software does offer you a choice during setup: make sure to install MessengerPlus WITHOUT that "sponsor program"!

Hi FreewheelinFrank,

More general instructions than on this page
http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=74265
cannot be found I.M.H.O. Here you will find the standard removal procedure for the various SmitFraud infections. Follow those instructions to the dot (only at the bottom run an Avast scan of course, not a Panda!) and your problem is solved. Does the man Pabloandliz know how to do this, I think he does.

greets,
