the exact error message is this "generic host process for win32 services has encountered a problem it says then when i log online and wont let me online so im on my dad laptop. i found out what it was and i have to downloada patch for it, but since my computer cant get online i cant download it so could i just download it on this computer and put it on a floppy or cd and put it on my computer? if not how do i get rid of the worm?

What download did you found that you think will solve the problem?
The error you get can be caused by tons of things, what is it that make you think it is a worm?
i dont think i can be much help cuz i dont know much about computers, heck i dont even know what OS, or AV is lol, but i can tell you i got windows xp, ummm thats bout all i know. the reason i think i have the worm is this http://personalinsure.about.com/cs/personalproperty/a/aa081303a.htm
that site pretty much describes what going on with my comp, it has the same error message as the worm their talking about. and i never got teh patch for it. but its very possible that its something else but the it being the worm is the only thing i can find that sounds about right. thanks for helping me, im sorry im not much help,lol
OS=Operating System. eg: windows version, linux version, freebsd version etc.

The page you gave us shows the sasser worm. A relative old worm and if you still get infected with it then the real problem is that you did/do not kept/keep your system up to date. MS (MicroSoft) has released a patch for it even before the sasser worm was released.

well i got online long enough to go to trendmicro.com and do that housecall virus scan and it found a sasser.a and removed it but its still not working
so i have no clue what to do now, im gonna call microsoft today. they might be able to fix it

ok im almost positive its not a virus. now something i didnt mention before because i did think anything of it. a few weeks ago only on speaker would work on my comp and then the day it messed up the speakers would make a fuzzy sound, now when i sign online they dont work at all but when i restart the comp and dont sign online the music and video files play just fine? it says this message after i log online and try to play the music(btw the internet still only works for a minute or two) ok heres “bad direct sound driver.Please install proper drivers or select another device in configuration.

anything else is just guessing otherwise… 
as always you guys have been a big help. so thank you for taking the time to help. im gonna get the hack this thing. and if that doesnt work im probably going ot reformat my computer.
