Hi all,
I’ve been hit with a nasty little devil “Win32:Hoaxalarm-m” I cant get rid of.
I’ve ran scans and Avast locates it fine, however, it’s unable to remove, delete or move.
Someone please assist me with this?
Goody.

A forum search for Win32:Hoaxalarm-m would have returned this thread http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=17661.0
Did you try boot time scanning?
Or, at least, scan at Safe Mode (pressing F8 while booting)?
Still in trouble here, I shut down Sys Restore and tried boot scanning with no luck.
Then I went to Safe mode, however, I cant get my PC to respond in safe mode?
I re-booted, and now the PC has gotten worse it seems, very slow with pop-ups, and Avast warnings are still coming in.
Actaully, its seems to have stalled or takes forever to do anything now…12:25pm
Im on another PC which is isolated from the other.
Now what? Anyone?

But did you run a boot time scanning? (not Safe Mode, but boot time, before Windows loads).
Can you login into Windows and schedule an avast boot time scanning or not?
Guys,
I’m still having serious problems here. I even packed up my PC and paid a guy to rid me of this problem. Obviously, it hasnt worked. I’m close to a format, please, I’ve tried the previous suggestions including a boot time scan. What is this thing???

Did you follow the information in the link I gave you it mentions more than rebooting and safe mode scan, etc. Did you try HiJackThis to see what is running on your system?
These files are also mentioned in the post by ‘Storzek’ are any of these present?
Incident Status Location Adware:adware/securityerror Not desinfected C:\WINDOWS\system32\mssearchnet.exe Adware:adware/spyaxe Not desinfected C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\hpBD25.tmp Adware:adware/securityerror Not desinfected C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\mssearchnet.exe Adware:adware/miamore Not desinfected C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\st3.dllI delete all this files in safe mode and I set recovery system to disable.
Yes, I did follow the link and tried to perform the suggestions, however they were not identical to my system, I did my best. I guess I’ll just run through it again.

Try running SmitRem

There are also a couple of links here where people found some help:

Basically run SmitRem & Ewido.
And thank a gentleman called Noahdfear if it works.
