Win32:Hoblig-B [Heur], Win32:Sirefef-AO [Rtk], and Win64:Sirefef-A [Trj]

I was just surfing the web 2 days ago when the avast! File System Shield popped up
and said it blocked a threat. The first was a message saying:

"ROOTKIT BLOCKED

avast! File System Shield has blocked a threat.
No further action is required.

Object: C:\WINDOWS\Installer{6a328933-032b-cf97-a9e8-5174d95ea84f}\U\800000cb.@

Infection: Win32:Sirefef-AO [Rtk]

Action: Moved to Chest

Process: C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe

The threat was detected and blocked when the file was created or modified."

The second message read:

"TROJAN HORSE BLOCKED

avast! File System Shield has blocked a threat.
No further action is required.

Object: C:\WINDOWS\Installer{6a328933-032b-cf97-a9e8-5174d95ea84f}\U\80000000cb.@

Infection: Win64:Sirefef-A [Trj]

Action: Moved to Chest

Process: C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe

The threat was detected and blocked when the file was created or modified."

In addition to that, after I ran a scan, avast! showed in the results two instances of something
called “Win32:Hoblig-B [Heur]”, not sure what that is but it never showed up on the pop-ups
earlier. Basically what can I do to get rid of these malicious programs? These pop-ups are showing up pretty much every couple of minutes, or whenever I open a new browser window. I’m currently running avast! Free version.

follow this guide and attach (not copy and paste) logs from Malwarebytes / OTL / aswMBR

This needs further analysis by a malware removal specialist:
Go to this topic http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0 for information on Logs to assist in cleaning malware.
Use the information about getting and using the tools and attach the logs here, not in the LOGS topic.

Here should be the logs from Malwarebytes, OTL, and aswMBR. I tried to follow all the instructions on the Logs, but please let me know if anything is missing. Thanks!

I’m not sure what to say, but OTL simply won’t run. It worked just fine yesterday, but won’t even start today. What should I do?

Proceed direct to TDSSKiller please

Here is my TDSSKiller report, I couldn’t copy and paste as it was too many characters so I attached it:

Not overly happy about that so I will get a second opinion

Download and Install Combofix

Download ComboFix from one of the following locations:
Link 1
Link 2

VERY IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

  • IMPORTANT - Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. If you have difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, refer to this link here

[*]Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
[*]Accept the disclaimer and allow to update if it asks

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v706/ried7/NSIS_extraction.png

[*]When finished, it shall produce a log for you.
[*]Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

Notes:

  1. Do not mouse-click Combofix’s window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
  2. Do not “re-run” Combofix. If you have a problem, reply back for further instructions.
  3. If after the reboot you get errors about programmes being marked for deletion then reboot, that will cure it.

Please make sure you include the combo fix log in your next reply as well as describe how your computer is running now

Just finished the ComboFix scan, I’ve included the log as an attachment. So far the computer seems to be running as it did before the avast! popups started, I haven’t had one as of yet after the ComboFix scan.

The MD5 on atapi is locked which is hghly unusual, so I will swap that for a good copy

  1. Close any open browsers.
  2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
  3. Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:
File:: c:\docume~1\DANPOP~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\pohci13F.sys

FCopy::
c:\windows\ServicePackFiles\i386\atapi.sys|c:\windows\system32\drivers\atapi.sys

Driver::
pohci13F

Save this as CFScript.txt, in the same location as ComboFix.exe

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif

Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exeWhen finished, it shall produce a log for you at C:\ComboFix.txt which I will require in your next reply.

Notes:

  1. Do not mouse-click Combofix’s window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
  2. Do not “re-run” Combofix. If you have a problem, reply back for further instructions.
  3. If after the reboot you get errors about programmes being marked for deletion then reboot, that will cure it.

Here’s my latest ComboFix log:

Any outstanding problems before I remove my tools ?

There doesn’t seem to be. The avast! popups associated with Win32:Sirefef-AO [Rtk] and Win64:Sirefef-A [Trj] haven’t been occurring, and the computer seems to be running normally. I’m planning to do one more avast! scan today to make sure my pc comes up clean, since there were a few other infections during my last scan. Thanks for all your help though, Sirefef seems to be gone! ;D

Subject to no further problems

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean
